Day 70- Sightseeing in London

As I write this blog it is well after 9.00 pm and Steve and I have had a big day of walking around the east end of London.

I think we did nearly 22 kms of walking as we made our way through from the hostel up near Kings Cross Station to Hyde Park, the Princess Di Memorial, Albert Hall, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Knightsbridge ( and Harrods), Buckingham Palace to see the Mews and the Palace State Rooms and then back to the Generator.

We started our walk at around 11 am after breakfast and doing the washing of clothes and did not really stop.

The highlight really was the tour of the Palace State Rooms which was really impressive but quite expensive at about £62. But it was well worth the visit to see behind the walls the very impressive rooms that featured in the recent coronation of the King and you see in photos of grand occasions such as State Dinners and dignatories visiting the Palace. Unfortunately there was no photos allowed other than in the Palace garden where they have Garden Parties.

The security was very tight and at one point we had to cloak our bags rather than taking them with us. I was concerned that leaving my passport in the bag might be an issue to which the Palace official said don’t be concerned as you are inside the Palace where security is at the highest level… I was greatly comforted by this.

Lunch today was at a cafe in Knightsbridge which was expensive and dinner at the Generator

The weather to day was coolish with high clouds and a strong breeze.

The pictures today are all sightseeing photos…. Enjoy
