Day 68-Being a Tourist in the Cotswolds

Last evening we had a delightful dinner at Steve and Sarah Bawtree’s lovely home In Cirencester. It started with drinks in the beautiful garden then we went inside for a scrumptious roast dinner followed by dessert. This was capped off by a lovely bottle of French wine! This together with a beer before dinner was the first drink of alcohol I have had since our dinner at Moulin Rouge in Paris. We had a late evening after Steve B drove us back to the hostel.

It was a late wake up this morning at 7.00am as we were meeting Steve B at 9.30 am to take us on a sightseeing trip in his car in the Cotswolds.

It was a cooler day today with the temperature lucky to get to 20 degrees. The skies were overcast and there was a bit of wind so it was a good day not to be on the bikes.

The day was delightful in that we saw many lovely towns that were not on the main tourist route and Steve B was the perfect tour guide giving us all sorts of insights into the region.

We made stops for morning tea and lunch in beautiful villages and enjoyed the local fare.

There was plenty of chatter in the car about many things including the biking in the area, the political spin the UK, the adventures undertaken on bike travelling.

At the end of the trip we went back to the house to clean bikes ahead of the trip back to London in the morning. Thankfully Steve had a pressure cleaner which made the job much easier.

It was a lovely day of resting and enjoying the delights of a picturesque part of England.

Thanks to Steve and Sarah for being such great hosts over the past 2 days…. A perfect end to our trip in many ways!

Today’s pictures are mostly of the sights and I don’t want to add anything more
