Day 52-Menin Gate

As I mentioned in my earlier blog we planned to visit Menin Gate to see the Last Post ceremony.

After a pasta dinner we made our way to Menin Gate to watch the Last Post and wreath laying ceremony. At precisely 8.00 pm the last post sounded and shortly thereafter there was a few VIP’s laying wreaths. 2 of those were Victorian politicians Kim Wells and Martin Dixon( ex politician in his case)

After the ceremony I introduced myself to Martin as I remembered meeting him in my Wesley Council days at the College with Principal Helen Drennen. Seems that both Martin and Kim are in Europe for the Olympic Games and on a visit to London.

After the ceremony we caught up again with the couple we met at Mesen and had a chat ahead of a walk home via the carnival in the main square.

A good way to end a very fulfilling day
