Day 40- Rest Day in Reims

Gosh it was good to have a “sleep in” for a change….awake at 7.00am!

Last night there was a big thunderstorm with thunder and lightning which cleared the humidity in the air for today thankfully.

The first order after waking and showering was to find a bake for breakfast which we thought we had sorted out yesterday but today was Sunday so most places are closed!!!

After a bit of walking we managed to find a bakery and I ordered croissants and a cake which we brought back to the hotel….blow me we could have had breakfast here!

After breakfast we put on our riding gear and made a trip into Reims where we were looking for a bike shop… blow me the bike shops in Reims were also closed for the day!!!

Near the bike shop we located a very nice cafe where Steve and I had a cappuccino to get ourselves into the right moot for the day!

Refreshed we went on a bit of a tour of the town noting that most places were shut. We managed to find a cafe that served crepes. I had a lemon crepes, Steve and Chris had berry crepes.

As most of the town was in shutdown mode we made our way back to the hotel where I did a bit of service to my bike and had a bit of a rest.

Today was a much cooler day thankfully and as the hotel has no air conditioning it will be a far better night for sleeping tonight.

We will probably be going to an Asian buffet style restaurant for dinner tonight… we went there last night and the food was quite good and there were good choices.

It is good to have a restful day occasionally and today came at the right time for me.

Not many pictures today

A couple of photos of the Cathedral which dates back to the 12th century…. It was heavily damaged in the First World War and a donation from John D Rockefelle
