Day 3 - Trip to Naples

Once again I was awake at about 6.00am after a great night of sleep….about 10 hours! Feels like the jet lag is gone now thankfully.

At breakfast on the rooftop we had a discussion about what we would do for the day. I suggested we consider a train trip somewhere for a change and together we came up with Naples.

After booking the tickets on line, it was off to the station ( Roma Termi ) to catch the train. All very easy really. After the mandatory coffee we were on the train and one and a half hours later we were in Naples. The train trip was very good with speeds up to 160 kph. Something we could do with in Australia.

On arrival at Naples at about 11.00am we purchased tickets for the big bus ride around the city and outer precincts. As it was about lunchtime after walking to the bus stop, we decided to have an early lunch of pizza which has its origins in Naples apparently.

The lunch was very good and filling. After this it was off to the big bus tour.

The tour was very interesting with a mixture of inner city sites and seeing some of the coastal scenery near the city.

The pictures below give a taste of the wonderful coastline near Naples. It is certainly worth coming back here again sometime.

After the bus trip it was time to travel back to Rome on the train. We left at about 4.30 pm for the 2 hour trip back to Rome.
